American Flatbow

American Flatbow

This was meant to be a 40-45lb 66" Reflex - Deflex American Flatbow. It was the first bow I made and I got things wrong. It was looking like being a 30lb 66" bow so I chopped it down and ended up with a very sweet shooting 37lb @28", 62" Flatbow. I actually have to brace it at 7.5" for it to have that classic D shape required to compete in NFAS. It shoots sweeter with a lower brace height but then fits in Hunting Tackle due to having a very slight recurve.

First 2 arrows I shot from this bow at a target boss 30 yards away and both went in the gold. I couldn't believe what had happened. It then went a bit downhill and after several attempts to make "my perfect grip", I got it shooting as I wanted and have had some great fun with the bow. I've only shot once in the AFB class at a 2 day shoot and I won it with this bow.
