The TopHatClassic arrow point stands for innovation in the sector wooden arrows.

These are top quality filed points and incredibly tough being made of stainlees steel and will not rust. These Stainless steel piles are not to be confused with the other silver (Nickel Plated) Tophat 3D points which are softer steel with a thin coating of Nickel, which are much cheaper. These stainless points are quite simply the ultimate in wooden arrow piles. They screw on to the blunt shaft and are much more resilient to hard frontal impacts (i.e. hitting trees and metal pegs in 3D targets), resulting in fewer broken arrow tips. No need for Glue or taper tools.

Fitting the piles can be made easier by using the appropriate sized thread cutting tool and fitting tool but neither are essential in fitting them. If the thread is pre-cut using the tools then the piles simply screw on by hand and once finger tight don't come off!

The points are manufacturered in Germany and made of blued steel to protect against corrosion.

The little washer behind the point prevents the points from rattling loose and is sad to provide a little damping when shot into hard things like trees or re-bar in the legs of targets! The points screw into an inserts which is glued into the shaft.

These inserts are designed to be glued into the Penthalon Traditional shafts. They are made of aluminium and are tapped to take the 3D 5/16th Combi Points. My chosen glue for the job is Araldite Ultra or any quality epoxy resin. Many people use hot melt glues or super glue. From experience I have found hot melt unreliable with inserts being let in hard 3D targets. Super glues work but can go brittle over time. It's also not possible to remove them if you had a cause to do so. Epoxy, like hot melt goes soft when warmed up and they can be removed if needed.

Inserts and screw in points are an alternative to speed points for the Penthalon traditional range of shafts. One advantage with the speed points though is that they are made of stainless steel and much harder and resitent to the element than 3D screw in points.

Tapered Fit, Screw on Pile. Prior to discovering just how good TopHat piles are, these were my own pile of choice. You just taper the shaft and screw them on. No glue is needed. Having used these piles for over 2 years with no glue I didn't have a single one come off in a target. The lack of glue comes in very handy when you plant your arrow into an innocent tree or buried tree root. If it's not possible to easily extract the arrow I simply unscrew the shaft and sacrifice the pile but save the arrow.

The Penthalon Break Up Points and made in Germany to exacting standards specifically for the Penthalon Slim Line carbon shafts. Through the use of their sectional break off design these points can be perfectly tailored to suit your arrows.

These protective collars/hats are often used when using bearpaw speed points. They are placed below the point (prior to gluing) and sit neatly on the end of the shaft. They reinforce the tip of the arrow and reduced the number of damaged shafts from hitting stones etc.. which is par for the course in field archery. It's also possible to use them just below the nock to massively reduce the chance of another arrow damaging the shaft when sat in a target.
